Breathtaking Venezia

Breathtaking Venezia

Venetian Island

From Mainland Venice were we stayed, we have to travel a few miles to catch a boat to the historical city of Venice. A short boat ride to reach the Island of Venice, surrounded with a breathtaking picturesque view of the Island on board. Venice is one of the most interesting and lovely places. A romantic sanctuary on a lagoon.
Upon stepping on this beautiful Island of Venice, people bustled everywhere. Crowded with so many locals and tourists scattered the whole island. Venice is the world's only pedestrian city, there were no cars, just boat, canals and narrow passageways. I was mesmerized by the tiny alleys and canals.

If you want to get around more quickly there are numerous water buses (vaporetti) or water taxis. Otherwise take a walk, it still best to explore Venice on foot from one end to the other.
Masks has always been a traditionally main feature around Venice, as they are know as "the City of Masks". Venice hold an annual festival known as the Carnival of Venice, a festival of carnival masks. People wore mask with colorful costumes in disguise around Venice attracting tourist to pose with them, take a photo and drop  donation. Souvenirs stand is widely available around the passageway of Venice.
As what people always describe Venice, the most romantic city in the world where lovers can enjoy and relax in a gondola  with a romantic serenade or by just simply strolling along everywhere.

Palazzo Ducale / Doge's Palace
A classic walking tour at the magnificent Doge's Palace, one of the most important building or landmark in Venice. The palace was the residence of the Doge of Venice, the supreme authority of the Republic of Venice, now a days it is a museums.
The courtyard was closed between the palace and St. Marks Basilica, which used to be the Doge's chapel which a ceremonial staircase was built with in the courtyard. The stairs led to the Doge;s private quarter known as the "Scala die Giganti" and flanked by statues of Mars and Neptune.
The Golden Staircase
The stairway owes its name to the spectacular golden stucco decorated vault. This golden staircase expresses the great wealth that the Venetians once possessed. The walls are made of stucco and the ceiling feature ornate works of art.

Basilica di San Marco / St. Mark's Basilica
St. Mark's Basilica is the most famous and the most recognizable of all churches in the city of Venice. Lies at the end of Piazza San Marco, adjacent and connected to the Doge's Palace.
Piazza San Marco / St. Mark's Square
The two columns of San Marco and San Theodoro, Venice patrons,  has served as the official gateway to the city.
St. Mark Square is one of the most beautiful squares in the world, a real marble salon. Located next to the basilica and the Doge's Palace. The Piazza is considered to be the city's main symbol and tourist attraction. This piazza is very much crowded as the central landmark and gathering place in Venice and extremely popular.
St. Mark's Clock is the first clock housed in the tower, the clock displays the original I to XXIIII numbering (roman numerals) around. The signs of the zodiac are in anti clockwise order around the inner zodiac dial. Above the clock is St. Marks Clocktower an image of Virgin Mary and baby Jesus, on the both side of the image is the hour in Roman numerals and the minutes arabic numerals.
Campanile di San Marco / St. Mark's Campanile
The bell tower of St. Mark's Basilica is one of  Venice most famous landmark and symbols of the city, located at Piazza San Marco. The basilica has a separate campanile (bell tower) that stands 98.6 meters tall (323 ft).

to be continued....
