Beautiful Florence #3

Beautiful Florence

Walking Tour Renaissance Florence

A trip to Italy is one of my greatest accomplishment that I never thought I could step here one day and how would I get tired to a walking tour around Florence, I just could not stop admiring every stunning architectural structure I could see. A continuation of my Florence's walking tour with the group...
Duomo di Firenze
The Duomo di Firenze or commonly known as the Florence Cathedral is one of the largest Cathedral in the world. Remains the largest brick dome ever constructed. The cathedral is the  mother church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Florence.
Florence Cathedral is the main church of Florence. The cathedral name is Basilica of Saint Mary of the Flower (Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral) or simply as the Duomo. Filippo Brunelleschi, a Florentine architect of the early Renaissance, designed the Duomo's most striking feature which dominates the city. The Dome of the Duomo used to be the world's largest when completed in 1436 and still towers over the city.
The Cathedral has some important works of art. (Left Photo) Above the main door inside the Cathedral is a Huge Clock decorated by Paolo Uccello. Christ crowning Mary as Queen, a circular stained glass window above the clock designed by Gaddo Gaddi. (Upper Right Photo) The last Judgment under the dome. (Middle Right Photo) The Monumental Crucifix. (Lower Right Photo) Vasari's Fresco.

Piazza del Duomo / Cathedral Square
The Cathedral square complex located at the Piazza del Duomo includes the Baptistery and  Giotto's Campanile. It is one of the most visited place in Europe and major attraction to tourists.
The Campanile or Giotto's Bell Tower of the cathedral has a colorful facade with green, pink and white Tuscan marble. The tower is accessible to visitors and offers a magnificent view of the city and the cathedral's  dome. The tower is standing adjacent the Basilica and the Baptistery.
The Baptistery of St John is one of Florence's oldest building. The exterior is white and green marble. The Octagonal Baptistery stands across the Duomo Cathedral and Giotto Bell Tower. The architecture is in Florentine Romanesque style.
Italian Leather Shop
Next stop is a visit to one of Italian's Leather shop in Florence. A short demonstration is given to us on how strong is Italian leather, how it is being made in a product and and how great the quality of the leather is being sold here. This shop sells a wide range of Italian leather products such as handbags, jackets, wallets, belt and more. Everything is made by a genuine Italian leather, you could get a high quality leather products. Prices of all leather products are reasonable to expensive one. Italian leather is expensive and you could get the best of the product's quality for the value of your money.
Santa Croce
On our way for lunch we passed to this beautiful square, Santa Croce. The Basilica di Santa Croce (Basilica of the Holy Cross) is a principal Franciscan Church and a minor basilica of the Roman Catholic Church. This is best known of Florentine artwork and tombs of Michelangelo, Galileo,  machiavelli and other artists.

During the day the piazza is filled of people both locals and tourist admiring the basilica and enjoying the bustle of the square, a meeting place for Florentines and tourists. Near the Santa Croce square are shops, restaurants and bar, this become a center of nightlife at Florence.
Ristorante Fantasia
Fantasia Restaurant is located near the Santa Croce Square. Fantasia Restaurant has 300 seats capacity and this is famous to most tourists. Tourists in large group like us mostly dine in this restaurant.

The restaurants served a traditional Italian main meal. Having lunch the Italian way in multi-course. As always, bread is present in every Italian meal. Green salad with chicken for our first plate, pasta for our second plate and a dessert for our last course. Oh I just love the way Italian serve there food. The food is excellente!
Piazzale Michelangelo
Our last stop in Florence was the Piazzale Michelangelo. You can get a great view of Florence at Piazzale Michelangelo. The Piazzale Michelangelo is crowded year round, tourists snap photos (I'm one of them hehe) of a panoramic view from the balcony overlooking the city of Florence. There are large number of market stalls selling souvenirs and snack at the square. Don't dare to miss to buy any souvenir, price here is very cheap.
The Piazzale Michelangelo is dedicated to the city's most famous Renaissance artist Michelangelo Buonarroti. A replica of his famous statue, "David" stands at the center of the square.

A visit to this crowded touristic square is worth a visit to see a magnificent view over the city of Florence and city's well known landmarks.

Visiting the Beautiful Florence completes my visit to Italy.

Bearland Paradise Resort

Bearland Paradise Resort

The Last Fling of the Summer

Summer 2012 in the Philippines is getting closer to an end. Before the rainy season and the school begins, our one last fling to get loose, to have fun and to end our summer in Paradise. Enjoying the scenery, the pool, the beach and of course the heat, don't forget your sunblock. Join me and let's Experience Bearland Paradise Resort!
Bearland Paradise Resort is just 20 to 30 minutes drive from the city of Iloilo. It is located at Barangay Tanpeal Tigbauan. It is a private tropical hideaway for enjoyment and relaxation. Let's check it out!
Upon arriving on the vicinity road of the Bearland Resort proceed to the RS2 building, in here you have to pay for your entrance, use of pool and cottages or sun loungers, or just for sightseeing.

Entrance Fee - Php 150 /pax
Children Entrance Fee - Php 150/pax (swimming included to ages 2 to 12 years old)
Swimming Fee - Php 150/pax  (13 years old and above)
Children below 2 years old - Free
Outside food are allowed in the resort and I think you should bring your own food especially if you plan to have lunch at the resort itself. The resort only offered short order menu, very limited dishes. Bringing of drinks like sodas, wine, liquors are not allowed and this is widely available at the resorts. Soda in can and beer in can price range php50.

Sun Loungers with umbrellas are available for rent that surrounds the resorts near the infinity pool and the kiddie pool. Price ranges from Php300 to Php600 with different capacity.

Bamboo and Wooden Cottages is also available. Located on the beach side. Price ranges at Php1000 to Php2000 (a bit pricey.. nah... its pricey).
The Gateway to the Paradise Resort!
Kiddie Pool Area
The Kiddie Pool is best for kids as well for adults to keep company with the kids. It has a mini slide and cute fountain at the center which has a daily schedule of operation.
Infinity Pool Area
The Infinity Pool overlooking the sea and adjacent to the resort's Sunken Bar. You can order drinks while you swim on the pool. Beside the Infinity Pool is the Jacuzzi, here you can relax and rejuvenate. Jacuzzi has daily schedule of operation. You can also relax and do some sunbathing on the sunbathing chair. They also have sun loungers available on the upper part and get a great view of the resort.
We got two sun loungers for us with umbrellas for Php300 each with capacity of 4 chairs each on the infinity pool area.
(That's supposed to be a free amenities for a resort, right!? except for cottages, what do you think? beside we already paid an entrance fee, how I wish!)

Beach Area
Beach area is clean and ideal for beach activities, swimming, picnic and barbecue party. Cottages is available for rent for huge number of people.

I was really enjoying taking pictures in different angle, the place is absolutely picture perfect. Simply photogenic paradise.

My personal point of view: The resort is not as spacious. In the later afternoon the resort gets crowded. They have common showers for men and woman outside the restroom, hope they have showers on the restroom for more convenient and private. They had limited changing room and toilet. The only attraction from this resort is simply just the pool and the beach. You might get bored easily if your not into swimming or swimming is not your thing. Its a bit pricey here, I think almost everything. You better check out yourself for the bedroom price for overnight stay too, it's heavenly pricey and I don't think I need  to stay overnight here, not practical i guess besides the resort is very near to the city. To top it all the resort is definitely beautiful, ideal place for pictorial!

Beautiful Florence #2

Beautiful Florence

Walking tour through the street and alleyways of Renaissance Florence continues

Piazza Uffizi
Next to Ponte Vecchio (old bridge) is the Piazza Uffizi, the most famous museum in Florence. Its a collection of Renaissance paintings and contains works by the most famous painter including Michelangelo, de Vinci and Botticelli.

Palazzo Vecchio (Old Palace)
The Palazzo Vecchio is the city hall of Florence and this is one of the city's most famous landmarks. It is adjacent to Piazza Uffizi, the palace was originally known as the Palazzo del Popolo (People's Palace). A large bell was hoisted into the bell tower, it is used to announce public meetings or to warn imminent danger. Florentines gathered at this square for important political occasions.
Piazza della Signoria
The Piazza della Signoria become Florence's most important square. The presence of Palazzo Vecchio gave the Piazza della Signoria a key role in the political history of Florence.
It is a very lively open square due to nearby sights. Sidewalk cafes, shops and plenty of impressive collection of statuary surrounds this square, this remind visitors of Florence's glorious history.
The Neptune Fountain symbolize Florence as a naval power. The design of Bartolomeo Ammannati shows the Roman God of the sea surrounded by sea nymphs.
Left Side: David Statue
Right Side: Statue of Hercules and Cacus
Statue of Cosimo I de' Medici, Grand Duke of Tuscany

Quite a lot of these in Florence
Hybrid or Electric Car are widely use within the city walls of Florence. This would help protect the beauty of the Tuscany region for future generations away from air pollution that damaging the city's world renowned architecture and priceless works of art.

What an environmental sustainable city... I envy Florence for having initiatives in reaching their goal... This electric car really fits the narrow street of Florence and save from parking space. What do you think?
