Corregidor Island Tour #1

It's all about History

war... bravery... history...

Corregidor Island is a small island in the mouth of the Manila Bay. Together with my friends, we decided to venture one of premier tourist destination for its historical and adventure tour. We have book this tour online ahead, through Sun Cruises, the only ferry service going to Corregidor.

Corregidor is also known as "The Rock" because of its rocky landscape and heavy fortifications on the island. Its outline is shaped like a tadpole with its tail running eastward. Along with Caballo Island (which lies about 2000 meters south of the "tail's" tip), Corregidor divides the entrance of Manila Bay into the North and South Channel. Corregidor and the other fortified islands fall under the jurisdiction of the province of Cavite.

Manila Bay
Look who I spotted and will be joining the day tour... It's the US Girl of Studio 23....
Angel Aquino and Iya
The water of Manila Bay is not calm on that day, big problem for me cause i'm a dizzy person but turns out perfectly alright for me for I was sleeping for the whole ferry trip due to our so late ending happy hour. The ferry swaying in the sea from the beginning until reaching the Island of Corregidor.

Upon arriving at the Island of Corregidor, several trams are waiting for us, all we have to do is to choose one tram we wish to take a ride with English speaking Tour Guide.

We choose tram 7 together with this diva, crazy and funny Tour guide "Rowena". She has a sense of humor that i'm pretty sure you'll gonna enjoy her company the way we do. It sounds like a continuation of our happy hour session, just another day comedy bar in a tram :)

Lorcha Dock

Our first stop was Lorcha Dock. A monument of Mc Arthur with his famous line "I Shall Return" and his departure point for Australia.

Filipino Heroes Memorial Park

Next stop is the Memorial Park. Monument of Pres. Sergio Osmena, Sr, Pres. Manuel L. Quezon and other Filipino Heroes. There are also several murals that surrounds the park about the historical Filipino battles.

Japanese Cemetery

The Japanese Cemetery are displays of guns and artillery. A monument is displayed and dedicated to the souls of the Filipino, Americans and Japanese soldiers whose lives were given in a battle.
