Heritage Gateway Hotel, Omarama

After a long journey from Lake Tekapo we stopped by at Omarama for a buffet lunch at The Heritage Gateway Hotel. ( as always, for were hungry from our long journey I miss out to took some photos during our lunch)
Omarama is a small township at the junction of State Highway and it is in the Waitaki District. Omarama's is a quiet town which is known for ideal business retreat or a honeymoon escape.

The Heritage Gateway Hotel has a splendid view of the southern Alps, from here you can explore the lakes and the river or you can explore the quiet countryside by foot or by riding a bike.
Omarama, the place of light, is the town to stay in on the way from Christchurch to Queenstown. It has a strong reputation as the gliding capital of the world where you can soar over the beautiful Waitaki Valley and McKenzie basin. You must spend some time soaking in the Omarama Hot Tubs or watch a live sheep shearing show at Wrinkly Rams. The river and lakes provide the ideal location for fishing, boating, picnicking or other recreational pursuits. Just north of Omarama you can drive to the Clay Cliffs and see stunning rock formations. Omarama is the ideal location to take a few days to relax and unwind and explore the wonderful Waitaki Valley.
