Beijing: Great Wall of China

The Great Wall of China is a series of stone and earthen fortifications in northern China, built originally to protect the northern borders of the Chinese Empire against intrusions by various nomadic groups. Several walls have been built since the 5th century BC that are referred to collectively as the Great Wall, which has been rebuilt and maintained from the 5th century BC through the 16th century.

There are many sections in hiking the Great Wall of China and admission fee applies differently from each sections.

The Badaling Section of the Great Wall is the prettiest and most strategic part, drawing millions of tourists both from home and abroad. This was the first section of the Great Wall opened to tourist.

It is the grandest and most splendid section of all, closest to Beijing city proper, convenient to access and easier to climb, thus the most visited. In this section large tour groups and a bit crowded which may affect your photography and ease with which to enjoy the views. Badaling has the most renovation and is well managed and from what i've heard, much safer to walk along than other sections.

We also went in one of the Ski Resorts. This is my first time Skiing. Of course I really had a hard time standing when I fall but it's fun and worth an experience back in year 2006.
